HRH Governor of Eastern Province Inaugurates the 10th Research Center in Dhahran Techno Valley

His Royal Highness Prince Saud bin Nayef bin Abdulaziz inaugurated 10th Research Center, ‘SIPCHEM’, a Center for development of polymers technologies and applications, on Wednesday 18 March 2015 at Dhahran Techno Valley, King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals.

H.E Dr. Khaled S. Al-Sultan, KFUPM Rector and chairman of DTVC Board of Directors, mentioned during his inauguration speech that ‘SIPCHEM’ is the 10th Research Center in Dhahran Techno Valley begins its full operations, while the journey of establishing more centers will continue and our aim is to raise their numbers to 15 Centers, in addition to some other companies interested to operate in the valley. H.E noted that the Dhahran Valley is the world’s largest cluster of its kind in terms of number of research centers specialized in oil, gas and petrochemical fields. He also particularly mentioned that KFUPM has established technology transfer, innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem at DTV which enabled KFUPM in achieving about 70% of all patents registered by other Arab Universities combined at the US Patents Office.

The ‘SIPCHEM Center’ embodies the investments of SIPCHEM, which is part of Saudi petrochemical industry as a whole. This center was built in a modern design to promote industrial and commercial diversity through the development of manufacturing industries. SIPCHEM manages and operates this center which has more than thirty seven labs with total area of 10,000 square meters. The Center will be a leading reference in the field of technology, innovation and services to support manufacturing industries related to polymers, and encouraging for excellence in the development of the petrochemical industry. This pioneer center provides additional resources to support the petrochemical manufacturing industry in the Kingdom through the development of various industrial applications including packaging films, wire and cables, photovoltaic cells, adhesives, paints, solvents, and others.
